Greater Oak Contracting is led by Mike — a builder trained in well-built craftsmanship passed down from generation to generation, serving homeowners across Athens, Watkinsville, Lawrenceville, Winder, and Lake Oconee.

Site note S-0 — why we’re named for a tree
In Athens, an oak tree owns itself.
At the corner of South Finley and Dearing Streets — a few minutes from most of our job sites — stands a white oak that, by an 1830s deed and two centuries of Athens insistence, owns itself and every foot of ground within eight feet of its trunk. No court has ever recognized the claim. The town has never needed one to.
When the original tree fell in 1942, Athens didn’t pave the corner — it planted one of the tree’s own acorns in the same spot. The oak standing there today is the son of the first, holding the same deed on the same corner.
That’s the oak on our letterhead — and the bar for everything we build: rooted enough that the place itself keeps it standing, generations on.
